The Inn at Afton is a perfect place to begin a tour of the Valley. You'll find it easy and exciting to plan day trips to both Nelson
County and Augusta County. With so much to do and see, you can be sure your group will want to return again and again.
Nelson County - The abundance and beauty of nature can be appreciated throughout the county. Start your tour with a a visit to
Drumheller's Orchard. Drumheller's offers a variety of ways to enjoy the fruits of the county's largest crop, beginning with Apple Blossom
Tours in the Spring, through Applebutter making and hayrides in the Fall.
From there, you'll want to proceed to a jewel of man-made beauty
set in a rural paradise. Preserving its rich heritage, Oak Ridge Estate embodies southern elegance. Leisurely tours of the Mansion,
Italian Garden, rare Crystal Palace-style Greenhouse, and Private Railroad Station reveal its early 20th century grandeur.
When you're
ready to stop for lunch, come to the relaxed atmosphere of a country-style restaurant. You'll enjoy home cooked Southern fare in a
200-year-old farm house at Rodes Farm Inn.
After lunch, step into the past at Walton's Mountain Museum. Remember America's
favorite family as you tour replicas of the Walton's rooms and view memorabilia including scrapbooks, fan mail and photographs. Be sure to
see the Walton documentary video featuring interviews with Earl Hamner.
Before you start back to The Inn at Afton, be sure to stop by
Wintergreen Vineyard and Winery. This award winning winery offers tours and tastings and an opportunity to stock up on a wonderful
local vintage. We look forward to sharing the astounding beauty of Nelson County with your tour group.

natural beauty. Your tour group will want to include a little of both in your trip through Augusta. Start your tour at The P.
Buckley Moss Museum, named for the local "people's artist". The museum's setting recalls one of her famous watercolors that
feature local people and scenery.

from the factory showroom and shop for your own local treasure.
Then take your group to Mrs. Rowe's Family Restaurant and Bakery.
Sincy 1947, this family owned restaurant has been serving home cooked meals. Many of the family recipes used in the restaurant can be
found in the cookbook, Mrs. Rowe's Favorite Recipes.
